I bought this bike with less than 10,000 miles. I was looking for a starter bike for my dad. This bike is light and easy to drive. It's clutchless with a low and high gear so you still get the fun of changing gears. I got it up to 80 mph on the interstate, it cruises comfortably at 65 mph without feeling like you're straining the motorcycle. It's surprisingly quick for what it is. It has a relaxed, comfortable feel to it. IMHO the best beginner's bike ever built.
My grandfather owned a 400 .its a good one for anyone to start out with.Glides down the road fine.I like honda motor bikes.

I bought my 1980 CM400A last month. originally owned by a chap in New York - the owner's insurance certificate was under the seat! It has 17,000+ miles on the clock.
The CM's weren't sold down here in Australia, so this must have been a private import.
I'm 64 and had never ridden a 'bike until doing a mandatory introductory course in August. I agree that it's a great bike for a learner yet still has ample power for cruising. And I love the semi-auto 'box....which was the reason I bought it.
