Dr. Diaz is a former Professor of Trinitarian Theology at St. John's University and the College of St. Benedict in Collegeville Minnesota. He is a strong voice for the Church to become more "broadly multi-cultural, to recognize and appreciate the role that culture plays in living faith." Dr. Diaz, born in Havana, Cuba, is the leading Hispanic theologian in the United States. Dr Diaz has authored and co-authored many publications including two books: "From the Heart of Our People: Latino/a Explorations in Catholic Systematic Theology" and "On Being Human: US , Hispanic and Rahnerian Perspectives". Dr. Diaz received an M.A. and Ph. D. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame.
