I had a lot of help on this gentle number about healing. Sylvia provides lovely angelic vocals, perfect for the delicate feel of the song. And Rick was his usual generous self, offering his piano and bass chops, along with general mixing and video making know-how. "MABH" wouldn't be half the song it is without their assistance.

Please give their channels a look-see, you will find a world of talent on both.

Some gratitude must also be sent in a couple other directions. Ron from channel RHopen was generous enough to provide some feedback along the way.

Also, this song originated in a dream with youtuber Doug Payne (coomadoug) as the singer. I actually tried to enlist him for the vocals in this mix, but he regretably was busy. You'll have to suffer through my singing instead!

If you like this song, there is a good chance you'll appreciate Doug's style.

Lastly, my daughter took the photos of the guitar that appear in the second verse. Thank you Angelika!

And thank you for listening/commenting/rating/sharing. I really appreciate the support.

EDIT: The opening driving footage was taken with permission from this channel.

---------------------------------------------------------

I loved you, now it's time to move on
The roads we travel only last so long
Doors we open may one day be shut
Threads we knit can come undone

When you told me you were leaving
I could only disbelieve in
Anything could tear us apart
But as the years go by now I know
How to mend a broken heart

I loved you, now it's time to let go
Your laughter and light remain in my soul
I still know the words to your favorite song
But the meaning has changed the essence is gone

When you told me you were leaving
I could only disbelieve in
Anything could tear us apart
On my knees yes I am grieving
Fabric of my life unweaving
Helplessly watching you depart

But as the years go by now I know
How to mend a broken heart

I loved you I guess I alwyas will
But the road it beckons further still

  • Back for another look - you did such a beautiful job of this song & putting it all together, Justin. Gonna highlight this again on my channel for awhile. Very honoured to be a part of this! Sylvia

  • so beautiful!!

  • Oh apparently I missed this in my sub box :-I This is a really nice piece.. Really dig the "as the years go by" harmonies...Well I like all the harmonies actually...I really like the picking pattern on the guitar too, and the gentle single strums lend an almost harp like effect...not to mention the melody, which is dreamy and gentle...The way the song ends is perfect...Great job to everyone involved...

  • i ♥ this song !!! And a great Video too !!
