  • So, what's the issue with them? What's not to like about a two cylinder diesel?

  • @scotty2307 The engine (or the whole tractor?) is actually made by Shibaura from Japan. They had a very short production run so parts are very hard to find. Other than that I'm happy to have it.

  • haha you just did exactly what i did... the rings were jammed closed with carbon from someone trying to start it with ether so i took the head off got new rings, honed it, put er back together after sitting for 5 years and it started right up... and it was $300 for rod bearings and rings which was kinda rediculous but i could only get them from new holland

  • I have a Ford 1000, it is a 1974 model, with the same engine as this, and most of the same features. It is a great running hard pulling little tractor. The parts are a bit of a pain to locate but these little 2 bangers are very durable. I'm looking for a front loader for mine.

  • shibaura was just another big japanese engine company then. The whole tractot was likely made by them like my john deere is made by yanmar. My old boss at a greenhouse had a 1989 ford 2120 and that had a shibaura engine

  • Nice little tractor! I jist bought a 4x4 john deere 650 and its got a 2cyl diesel 16hp. Great little tractor.

  • I did disking and scraping with a two cylinder Mitsubishi tractor when I was a kid. It was the same way, parts were scarce. The glow plugs were burned out and it was hard to start and the brakes were useless but it was fun. I have a two cylinder Feidong diesel, see my vid, and it is a a cold start engine, no glow plugs. I will take diesel over gas any day.

    Regards; Scott

  • That will certainly be a chore to get her back in service, but the reward of hearing it purr for the first time will make all the effort all worth while! Keep us posted my Friend!!!
