Marty's picking technique is the way it is to optimize the transition to sweep picking. And besides, it works, so it really doesn't matter.

Hmm interesting , I thought the universe was about to collapse.
-
Well, at least the guitar speaks in every language
-
@ten8goa yes, he does hold his pick in the most freaking strange way also he doesn't have the staccato like Paul does. But, I suppose each to his own and how he play the best he can.
-
Lol, the intro is like ''Marty Friedman versus Paul Gilbert, round one, FIGHT!''
-
@ten8goa - it's working pretty well for him, eh?
-
fantastic!

whaaaattttt???!!!! these guys gotta be seriously kidding me! they only are not fluent in minor 5 scalings but also in nihonggo! Japan must've been a haven for guitar masters...like these two gentlemen...this video has just rocked me to very bottom of my nerves...Megadeth crosses over Racer X....aw come on! Marty and PG...give me a break! you guys rock!

Do all guitar shredders speak Japanese? Am I missing out on some common knowledge here?

why is everyone so concerned with Marty's picking technique ?
did everyone forget how amazing of a player he is ?
put that Megadeth album on again and listen to it over and over. Do you hear his technique ? Of course not. Just goes to show there's no right way or wrong way. And I'm pretty sure he's not changing his style any time soon. Being that he's a MULTI PLATINUM recording artist.
What did you accomlish with YOUR perfect picking technique ???!
Don't be a hater.
