@7ejazy you do the whole number separate to the decimal part e.g 98/8 =12.25 so 8 x .25= 2 so remainder is 2 12/8=1.5 .5x8=4 so remainder is 4 etc,

Anderzom, I'm not really sure if I understand your question. But if you are trying to perform the division on a calculator to convert a decimal number to an Octal your answer will not come out the same as the answer you would have gotten if you had performed the division on paper. I hope that helps.

@7ejazy To determine the remainder you will have to perform the division on paper, not with a calculator. The calculator will carry the division all the way out and screw up the answer. Try it on paper and you'll see the difference.
