Homayoun Mohajer reading and explaining Hafez's Ghazal No. 1

In loving memory of our dear father.

Homayoun Mohajer had a strong passion for the arts, especially poetry. About two years ago, we asked him to record his voice reading Hafez and describe the meaning. He recorded 5 Ghazals over a period of a few months, with detailed explanations, each one about 30-45 minutes long. In retrospect, we are so glad we asked for this gift. In this video, we selected portions of these recordings to share with the world. Be sure to watch this video in its entirety, as the important message being communicated becomes clear at the very end.

What a beautiful video, Kamyar, and what a fitting and moving tribute to your father. I'm trying to learn some Hafez in the original; your dad's explanation and wisdom have already helped me in appreciating this poem, and I know I'll watch the video many more times, with my copy of Hafez's Divan open on my desk.

Thank you for sharing such a precious gift with the world. Kamyar, I hope you are at peace in this year after your beloved father has flown. My beloved husband passed suddenly a year before your sweet father. Homayouns words truly touched my heart and reminded me why we are here and why we go on.
