In a recent blog post titled "The Book of the Year," Seth Godin argues that Kevin Kelly's new book, "What Technology Wants," deserves a Pulitzer prize!
In this interview, David Mathison interviews Wired co-founder Kevin Kelly about his viral blog post, "1,000 True Fans," which served as the Foreword to Mathison's book, Be The Media.
Kevin Kelly and David Mathison explore how to earn a living by finding and engaging with your TRUE FANS (customers, patrons, and friends):
* Hear why Kelly feels that "anyone producing works of art needs to acquire only 1,000 true fans to make a living."
* Learn how some artists are getting their true fans to purchase nearly anything and everything they produce.
* Fan funding: Explore real-world examples of artists using micro-patronage to create their next business, book, music, film, or fund a favorite cause.
* Hear how musician Jill Sobule raised $89,000 in just two months from her web site to create her new album - all from fan donations.
* Why having a DIRECT relationship with your true fans is critical, and what tools you can use to DO JUST THAT.
* Learn how others are applying the True Fans model, and how you can too.
