http://www.wedding-flowers-guide.com shows you how to pin a boutonniere or buttonhole onto your jacket. This is ideal if you are wearing a wedding boutonniere or a prom buttonhole. If you are a groom or bestman this is an important video to watch.
why is it that i see some guys wear it on their pocket area? like the place where they're supposed to place the pocket square does anyone know?? please help !
Why do you pin the boutonnière? Traditionally boutonnières were always worn pushed through the lapel buttonhole (boutonnière itself is derived from the french for buttonhole) and held in place by a boutonnière latch about two inches below the buttonhole on the reverse side of the lapel.
One should never pin a boutonnière, especially if real flowers are used rather than the silk ones shown in the video. Piercing the stem with a pin would leave unsightly marks on one's jacket lapel.
I was surprised to hear that you don't put it through the buttonhole. I just finished reading a whole article on a website that said you should never pin it on. The buttonhole was originally intended for the stem of the flower to go through it and there is supposed to be a thread behind the lapel to hold the stem in place. The article even suggested having a tailor put a thread in if there wasn't one there already.
