  • Was Colin the first one that answered? Did he say, "I should never ask the question from the bored person!"

  • ...something like: "How would you feel if Arthur or Merlin or both were gay?" which implies that we know they aren't, but WHAT IF. You know.

  • ...going to ask "Are they gay?" some writers might start thinking (especially if they get many similar questions) "Wait. Did I make them appear too gay? That wasn't my intention" and maybe try to write them "less gay" (in their minds), which I don't think any of us wants. Because even though I ship Arthur/Merlin, I'd never want to see their friendship ruined because of some people's questions.

I think (if you really MUST ask the gay questions) it should be worded differently. Maybe say...

  • Some people need to calm down. Yes, we know that Arthur and Merlin aren't gay in canon, but there's no denying that they love each other. And I'm not talking about "omg, I wanna bang you" type thing, but about genuine care for each other. Whether people want to see that as strong friendship or as something more doesn't matter. It's a similar situation when it comes to John and Sherlock.

That being said, I do think that people at cons should word their questions more carefully. If you're...

  • oh god "brokeback merlin" I can't

  • @LovingMe365 There have been lots of gay leaders. For example, King James (the guy the Bible is named after)--ironically.

  • @burnishedgoldful Yes, a kids/family show with violence, adultery, betrayal, murder of children, executions, attempted genocide and fratricide, war, hostile political coups, etc. All that is fine, but showing love and intimacy between two males isn't acceptable. Quite frankly, love between Arthur and Merlin is a whole lot more believable than the silly, childish, sterile, Disney-esque, sunbeams and violins relationship of Arthur & Gwen they're trying to say is a romance.

  • @SkurtHevans one of the roman emperors was gay I think it was augustus.

  • Why on earth would anybody think that they are showing that Merlin and Arthur are gay in the series!!!! People get your head out of your pants and get in realty!!!

  • the fandoms brought me here.

    yeeeep.
