This is a cold start of my truck at 7*F. Truck hadnt been started up in two days, and wasnt plugged in. Also, it had no additives in it so I figured the fuel would gel but it never did. I need battery cables bad! It was turning over way to slow

  • 7*F Burr! Are your cable ends shot or is the whole cable junk?

  • The whole cable is shot basically. Like I have said before I will replace them and see if that helps. If not, then it looks like I will go for a new starter.

  • Honestly shocked that that thing started!

7 deg, slow cranking, no block heater, short glow cycle

Your truck must be in near perfect condition!

  • LOL Thanks man, its in pretty good shape and runs like a top!

  • i would get new batteries instead of cables unless there that bad

  • Batteries are like new. The cables are cracked in places and the copper is all coroded inside. So I'm about 99% sure its the cables but you never know lol

  • damn dude my friends uncle has an 86 but has a 7.3 engine non turbo it doesnt even start if its 90 outside! lol... damn impressive dude.. love the truck

  • Can you tell me what the build date on your truck is? Is it from mid to late 1984 or from early 1985?

  • Awesome truck. My buddy had an 86 (I think) 6.9, not turboed though. He did have the glow plugs on a push button though. The controllers on those trucks were notorious for dying.

If you ever tow with it can you post a video of that?

  • You know what, my 1999 7.3L in same conditions would not start! I think I may need new starter and possibly batteries...

  • What? Glow plugs are on a switch yes

  • I think the owner of the truck is well aware that he needs new battery cables, thank you very much!
