This song, written by Jim Maclean in 1963, tells of an infamous betrayal in Scottish history when in 1693 Campbell troops of the Black Watch under orders from King William murdered their hosts of Clan Donald. This video was recorded at a concert by Tara's Thistle in 2002 at the Public Library in Brookfield, MA.

  • A little factually incorrect (it was 1692) and they had to go to Inverary not Fort William (he went to Fort William where he was told he was in the wrong place and was sent to Inverary). It was not the black watch either, it was government troops under Dalrymple. Other than that, good song. Andrew Sutherland, Torren, Glencoe

  • Very haunting piece of history, i love the corries version as well Bob Thorburn
