Le Beau Robert Handsome Robert (16th century French folksong, Jacques Douai, 1954)Taken from old vinyl recording which won the Charles Cros prize in 1954. Jacques Douai (1920-2004) played a seminal role in promoting the popularity of a new genre of tuneful and poetic songs, and in reviving neglected folksongs.
