I remember I used to think this was the ending of Goldeneye, where James Bond commits suicide, and the rest of the game is explaining what happened before he did.

Wow that's one part of the map that's never been discovered before. I never knew they actaully added the facility entrance to the bottom even though nobody would ever be able to see it.

@Mrdie That is true, but that would be more realistic though than just leaping down 100 feet

@mario1136 It wouldn't have affected much. You'd go down there, maybe with some rope-like sound effect or something to demonstrate you aren't just leaping down to your doom (this was 1997 after all), then you shoot the metal off with a special gun or something. Probably not worth implementing.

There's actually a way via Gameshark to clip through and see a short tunnel below the hatch (which, of course, leads into darkness), which confirms that it definitely wasn't put there as an unnecessary detail 99.9% of the players would otherwise never notice.

in the beta version you had to find a bungee chord, and lazer your way in and the ending bond jumps into the vent

@MrHondogarcia I think it was the piston gun and bungee equipment that was in the tower across the reservoir

@ghostspider yeah,I agree with you.In the level selection,if you read the files on Dam,it actually tells you that you have to use the piston gun to open it
