The Sloan AQUS® is based upon the premise that using fresh water to flush a toilet is unneccessary and wasteful. Our system takes the water that goes down the bathroom sink, filters and disinfects it, and uses it to flush the toilet. It does not cross connect to the fresh water system nor does it inhibit the backflow prevention. It simply uses reused water as the primary source for flushing the toilet then supplements it with fresh water, as needed. The system can save up to 6,000 gallons of fresh water per year and requires only annual maintenance.

  • Any water sent down the "overflow" tube goes down into the toilet and not the tank. Does the flapper close any sooner some how? Doesn't the tank still have to drain to the same level as it did before for the flapper to close? The flapper closes once the water empties to a level in which the flapper no longer floats. I can see how it would help in reducing the need to double flush, but that rarely happens with a good toilet.

  • @winmaster1 The water should go into the toilet if it passes the overflow, this will prevent the tank from overflowing; while the flapper depends on the type of toilet you have. We used our 9000 series tank toilet system which has a 3" flapper in this video. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact your local Sloan rep or contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-9-VALVE-9

  • @SloanValveCompany I understand the overflow tube works as a safety if the tank was to overfill. To save water the toilet tanks capacity would need to be lowered (adding a milk jug filled with water) or the flapper would need to close sooner reducing the amount of water exiting the tank. How does sending used water down the overflow tube reduce the capacity of the tank or cause the flapper to close before losing its bouncy?

  • @winmaster1 The purpose of this product is to conserve clean water by using less clean water. There is a restricted amount of fresh water going into the tank. A brick or jug into the tank to conserve water use but that would just mean that the purpose of this product is being minimized as more of the graywater will go into the overflow tube, the same amount of limited fresh water will enter the tank but overall the graywater from the sink will go into the sewage pipes quicker.

  • Thank you @SimonSellsAustin for your response. There are 2 caps on top that can be opened for maintenance: 1 for chlorine tablets & 1 for the filter, which catches hair & other solid items that may go down the sink. Not also to mention but before the p-trap a diverter is installed so that some water & other items may pass through there. Especially if you haven't flushed the toilet recently but have been using the sink a lot. For more information on our AQUS® System please visit our website.

  • I could see this working well in most half bathrooms/ guest bathrooms in the common areas of homes.

My personal issue with using it is the limited distance of the hose. My "throne" is across the room and the only inconspicuous way to route the line would be up and over through the attic back down to the toilet. Then there's the matter of shaving. I use my sink to shave every other day and that's alot of byproduct to filter out. I wonder how that will effect the system along with the toilet.

  • I wonder how much more we could even save if we start using waste toilet water to fill up our bathtub or take a shower with
