I can quite honestly say I did NOT expect the Spanish Inquisition.

On a second note, Spanish seems like a rather tinny sort of word, whilst Inquisition seems woody wouldn't you agree? Ni!

It does actually, the treadle in a mill is the linear powersource to rotational motion, it's either powered by water or a foot pushing on it, if one of the cross beams in it has gone "askew" (off center) it means that the treadle is not functioning at full capacity or at the worst, that there is a hold up in the entire system
