Background - A fifth generation Oregonian, descended from farmers, loggers, fishermen and pioneers; people who lived close to the land and felt the natural rhythms of place. Grew up on the banks of Crabtree Creek where she and her brother quickly did chores so that they could play in the woods, the fields and the garden. Darcy raised her own wonderful children in deeply rural Central Oregon on a 20,000 acre ranch where she grew even closer to the land and the natural world. She has experience working with at risk youth, in mental health facilities, in workforce development serving homeless youth, and in many positions within public schools. She is honored to share what she has learned about the world and its wild places, and looks forward to learning all that your children will teach her as they explore these beautiful spaces together.
 
Philosophy - Darcy believes in the power of place-based, experiential education, integrated curriculum, environmentally focused education, constructivist approaches to teaching and learner centered instruction. She believes in the interconnection of all things, that relationships matter, that humans often learn best from mistakes, and that kids should be allowed to make a few.
