Looks like it might be a very effective pattern. The only downside that I see to it at least is that because it is an extended body fly, you will need to utilize a smaller hook than the actual size of the fly. i/e: a #22 hook to tie a #20 fly as is shown in the tutorial.
This can certainly become problematic as you get into smaller sizes, as the hook gap gets increasingly smaller as well.
