Super Basketball (Konami, 1984) - Arcade Gameplay

It's the last minute of the game! To win against each team, you must simply score higher than the opponent. The score you must beat increases with each round.

To say this game is on the simplistic side, would be an understatement. You do not have to stop the other team from scoring -- you start each round trailing the other team in points, and must simply beat their score.

Time is added to the clock for each shot you make. Penalties and loss of possession cause the loss of a few seconds. Game ends when the clock hits zero and you have not outscored the other team (ties do not count.)

I first learned of this game's existence from "Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits" on the Nintendo DS (which was a budget title, but it got kinda expensive in the secondhand market.) Oddly, they renamed the game to just "Basketball" when they ported it to DS... I guess they thought it wasn't very super. :P

At first, I thought it wasn't a very good choice for the compilation, but it grew on me. And I thought all sports games were boring...

(Yes, I know the video skips in certain places -- it's just hard to get a good recording when all the CRAP running in the background is seriously slowing down the computer...)

This game is so terrible. . .Reminds me of 7-11's of the 80's where I used to play this. . .But it's cool to see the progression to Double Dribble where they kinda got things. . .better.

Wish I could show them Run n Gun back then! LOL

wow this game sucks...look at how far the games have come. I think the best ever video basketball game made is NBA on NBC SHOWTIME.....
