  • " some say that he's SINNER MAN ". At least what I can make out. Maybe you should put up a version with misheard lyrics. XD

  • I don't understand why many Heepsters tend to overlook John Lawton, I personally think Lawton is just as great as David Byron was although I slightly prefer Byron over Lawton but I thought Lawton was an excellent replacement for David Byron

  • Lawton has a great voice, but Byron had great timbre to his voice & charisma somehow, just by hearing him

  • sinner man! I grew up on this.. :D

  • @MacSebbe

Cinnamon? Well who knows eh?? lol

  • John Lawton's a great singer, a very clear singer too, probably clearer than David was. You have to remember though that Heep were at their absolute peak with David at the helm & the songs were stronger. With John up front, Firefly was a good album, but the next two after that were patchy & by then Heep had passed their peak as well & that made a difference as well. And yes, John definitely sings "Sinner Man". Crystal clear!

  • @Doobie1975 Byron was fired because of his increasingly unpredictable behavior due to his alcoholism. I don't dispute that Lawton was a good singer, it was most likely ego that inflated his sense of self worth as the replacement for David Byron. Ken mentioned it himself to us that David had become a total jerk and that the whole band was suffering. David was very unique but you only abide an asshole for so long before something's gonna give.

  • @AceOfHeart2012 What exactly do you mean by flake? Sorry to hear about your experience about meeting John Lawton, I can now see why he and Ken Hensley weren't getting along very well towards the end of Lawton being in Heep, too bad John Lawton is such an ass cause I've always thought he has a great singing voice

  • @Doobie1975 Because John Lawton was an prick. I was staying in the Hotel Pfister on KISS 1976 Rock and Roll Over Tour and Heep was opening. Mick Box bought us a shoeshine and I had a drink with Lee Kerslake at the pool and we got Ken Hensley baked in HIS room. But when we approached an elevator that Lawton was on with just one other guy they wouldn't let the three of us on. Byron of course was the original chemistry but a total flake (so they say) and Bernie (Shaw) totally spanks Lawton ass.

  • @MacSebbe It's 'sinner man'. It makes sense contextually.

  • that people like new silly bands like foo fighters, nickelback than this kind of music is beyond me.....

  • great.

  • sinner man NOT CINNAMON???
