MSF Charity: DNA, Bananas, and Ray Comfort

I will be extracting DNA from a banana and from my own cells. I may even appear on camera for MSF! I also have plans to do actual molecular biology research on camera. I'll answer questions as I go, so if you were ever curious about something related to molecular biology, watch and ask away.

some chromosomes must carry the info for millions of traits, sine there is only 46. does this mean the code for each chromosome is in the millions? how do you decipher that?

I'd prefer you DON'T send any blood. A nice toothpick in a damp paper towel should do the job. If you can use a small bamboo skewer to gently scrape the inside of your cheek and tongue, even better.
