I would like to try this with both right hand and left hand twist drill bits. That way you could see if the left-hand twist bit would cut better on the push-cut than your current bit. I think it should, as it would have the swept-back grind on the right, rather than the left.
Sweet idea though! I love it! I'm going to attempt to make myself one. Hopefully it cuts well! Got a nice HSS 1/2" bit that's nearly new just waiting to be ground up!

fantastic, do you sell the tip ?

What size is your tool handle?

Great tool! How did you get the idea to do that? Was it just doing what you could with what little you have and started by recycling a broken drill bit? Just one question, do you have any problem with it catching on you &/or grabbing and ripping out a chunk?
To come up with this one you must have a little machinist in you. I was a machinist for over 20yrs & I've used broken tools for something else. I blew out my lower back so now I'm retired & getting into turning wood on a Jet 1014 VS Lathe.

Like some of the other commentators, I would like to see a video on step-by-step grinding instructions. I have a Berger hollowing tool but I can't get it to cut like your drill-bit creation. Give it up dude, make the video! Thanks
