@aKasssu mobs are deactivated atm :) Nevertheless, I dug as precaution a trench with lava around my houses.

@thelastjewalive The server was/is running still version 1.2_02.

In 1.3 Notch has changed the behavior of lava.

You need to have a space between the wool and lava of minimum 5 Blocks or it will light up ;D

@thelastjewalive Try to edit the terrain.png and make your own texturepack (Its in the minecraft.jar). You simply swapping two textures. For example, wool, with cobble stone :)
