My Riverside Story centers on the life of Pit-Uh, one of the people residing near the canals of Pasig River. She does a living out of picking up plastic materials floating on the water while sitting on a styrofoam and paddling her way through the water. In Pit-Uh's little way, she strives to live through each day by earning from the plastic materials she gathers from the canal. It is also her way to clean up the body of water, though her effort may only have a little impact on its cleanliness as a whole.
The importance of water in our everyday lives has been very evident in the way they live their lives as choosing to live near the canals shows utmost dependence on water. However, these people have taken for granted the benefits they get out of water, as they throw their wastes directly to the water, in turn polluting it. If there will be many Pit-uh's out there doing what they can no matter how simple it may be, all our efforts will surely pay off. We hope that ADB programs advocating to nature bring awareness to the majority and inspire them to act now.
