Hey Democrats! Don't Gay Up My Army! (Yet.)

Surprise! You may assume I'm a liberal from my global warming videos, but I OPPOSE current efforts to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law that bans gays from openly serving in the military. Here's why.

Your suggestion that polling current members of the military lacks merit I think. As an older man who gre up in a military family I'm old enough to remember segregation during the 50's and 60's and the rancor that existed when the military became fully segregated in spite of the objections of many politicians and citizens. were the same sort of poll taken back them regarding the issue at the time I suspect you would have had a high number of people objecting to it... you see where I'm going?

To those that just want to use this space to get on their soapbox about DADT, here's what the video's actually saying (and why you should look somewhere else to soapbox):

* DADT is an issue.

* DADT is in a stalemate, and has been in a stalemate for quite a while.

* We're gonna be screwed pretty soon if we don't take care of the "big" issues.

* DADT is not (in the author's opinion at least) one of those "big" issues.

@combativesuniversity That's ridiculously narrow minded view. Human sexuality is a lot more complicated than "you like women" or "you like men".

There's bisexuals, pansexuals etc. then there are the obvious straight (heterosexual) and gay (homosexual).

With so many straights, gays, bis etc. out there, there is no way a statement like "there is only straight and gay" can be true. Seriously, it's not made up.

Strangely, since being in your algebra class this year Mr. Craven, I think I can understand where you are coming from. It takes too much to right the wrongs of our own past. Take segregation for example...how long did it take to settle that one? So the DADT will take probably just as much time since there are too many zealous homophoics out there. I for one actually get along great the with bisexual, homosexual and heterosexual individuals but my parents do not. Otherwise, great suggestion Sir!
