Is there a video of him singing with an orchestra without a microphone ? That would finally prove he can , and I wish there is , so all these jealous critics can stop trying to dismiss him as an opera singer .
-
yah thats what I forgot to mention. he did ALL of the above, with no microphone. what more is necessary?

@francocorelli02 Popularity doesn't equal greatness. Most of the people who listen to Bocelli can't tell the difference between an opera singer and a pop opera singer. If people want to listen to him, that's fine. I just don't like to see opoera singers confused with opera singers. Opera singers go through such rigorous training and have to give up so much to have a career, they deserve to be set apart from popera singers. Best regards.

@arpeggio1358 Everyone has their own opinion
Even if he not an operatic tenor
he is the singer that millions of ppl in this world admire
cause he is the only one bring opera to the ppl who never listen or go to the opera house before
Best Regard!

@87redsilver He has a pleasant voice but not an opera voice. He always sings in large venues where he can be amplified. his recitals at opera houses are money-making ventures. He popular and can fill a large venue. Please don't confuse popularity with greatness. If you like him, enjoy him, but realize he isn't an opera singer.

@87redsilver There is no such video. Opera singers sing roles in complete operas and don't use mics. AB has sung a couple of roles, but the critics have all said he couldn't be heard adequately. Calling those who don't like his voice "jealous" is just an excuse that popera fans use to discredit them. He is a pop opera crossover singer. There's nothing wrong with that. Popera is just another genre.

@tranxuannghia Good for Andrea !

Bocelli was a good operatic tenor
Decca named him as a operatic tenor, not a pop singer
So they put all his opera recording to his repetoire

shut up your mouth stupid pig
this video here dispels ANY notion that he is not a true operatic tenor. he just filled that house with a thunderous high C.

Yes, he did. All of it was great, I wish I had filmed more. He did a superb Amarilli, by Caccini, Tre Giorni son che Nina, by Pergolesi and many other wonderful songs, accompanied only by piano.
He has the high C's, the filato, he can do it all but still the so called opera critics won't rate him. He also needs no amplification in an opera house as this clearly proves.

Yes, the Saturday before, and the audience sang a chorus of "Happy Birthday" to him, I think he was pleased.......

No microphones at all. He doesn't need them.
I recorded it on a Fuji camera, from the front row
