  • On the contrary. This show inst for kids.

    It was edited that way.

  • Great idea to use this song for the outer senshi. It fits really well, but I thought the clips could have been better.

  • @waterkeeper511 It was pretty intense... It was kusottare I think....

  • @princesshanaka Uhhh.....nope. Just because that's what the subtitles say doesn't mean it's what they're actually saying in Japanese. I don't have time to get into it now, but while the Japanese language does have swear words, the word "bastard" is usually rendered as "kono yarou," which could also mean "you punk," "you jerk," etc. There are probably more; please correct me if I'm wrong. It depends on the intensity of how it's said as well as the situation at hand. At least as far as I can tell.

  • @waterkeeper511 I do believe one episode has a repeated use of the word bastard... I hope 7 year olds were not watching

  • @SilverMellenium It's for teens.... :)

  • @sidereally Yeah, that's...that's what I just said, lol. With the whole 7 - 16 thing. Nice debating with you, always nice to learn something new, especially about Sailor Moon.

  • @waterkeeper511 children were probably part of the target audience yes, but it definitely went way over the age of 11.

  • @sidereally I know what "Americanization" is, and I'm in fact referring to the Japanese version. But as a matter of fact, what I'm seeing now is that the anime was targeted to girls aged 7 - 16, so in a way we're both right. You can't deny that children were a part of the target audience. Check out the old commercials for Japanese Sailor Moon products; many feature young, pre-adolescent children.

And I was talking about the anime, not the manga. Everyone knows that's not for kids.

  • @waterkeeper511 furthermore, the original manga was aimed at a mature audience as well, hence the heavy use of lingerie. naoko takeuchi said herself that she initially she aimed the manga at teen and adult men!

  • @waterkeeper511 that may be your opinion, but the prime audience in japan was teenagers (14 to 17), i assure you. i had friends who grew up in tokyo who support this idea. it's all over the web that it was targeted at this age range. the audience was not 7 - 11. the fourth season was definitely targeted to younger viewers however (focusing on the younger chibiusa) because the original fan-base had grown beyond sailor moon. ironically, it was the least liked season. americanization, look it up.
