October 6th 1973...a day not to be forgotten

please watch the video and read the discription before making stupid commments about israel winning the war...

In 1967, the israelis occupied sinai after destroying the egyptian army...their arrogance showed them that they were invincible and egypt won't be able to fight them again for two decades at least.

but in october 6th 1973, the Israelis were about to realize their mistake...at 2:00 pm, 200 egyptian planes launched a full attack against the israeli military in sinai ...egyptian artillery unleashed hell at the fortified troops along the bar lev line..... egyptian soldiers crossed the suez canal and stormed all the israeli fortifications... war engineers opened gaps in the 20m high sand hill using high-pressure water turbines, allowing tanks to roll into the east bank with no resistance.

for the next few days ,the israelis kept launching counter-attack after another only to be crushed by egyptian troops... tanks were sitting ducks for sagger missiles launched by egyptian troops, aircraft were shot down like flies with SAM missiles launched from the the west of the canal.

Israel was desperate....and the only thing they could come out with was
a plan to sneak forces to the west bank of the canal hoping to force the egyptians to pull back through the canal... the israeli forces were led by Ariel Sharon... who first faced a very strong resistance at the battle of "Chinese farms", however; he managed to cross the canal to the west with some forces... then he moved north to capture the city of Ismailia, the heavy resistance forced him to retreat.... and to
make things harder for him, the security council issued a ceasefire decision on october 22nd.... but like all agreements and treaties, it was just a piece of paper for israel... on october 23rd, Israeli tanks moved south to capture suez... and this was their biggest mistake, the people of suez fought back and cost the Israelis over 33 tanks and over 80 soldiers were killed...and eventually they accepted the ceasefire at october 26th.

in january 1974, the Israeli forces retreated 20km east of the canal while egypt kept the liberated land... after a short period, the canal was open again for international shipping lanes UNDER COMPLETE EGYPTIAN CONTROL.

I'm gonna report you, XCROCODILX, for 5:38 where you actually show captured Israeli POWs that many of were tortured and executed by the Syrians. It's just disgusting of you to post "Vengeance is sweet" knowing that they were surrendered soldiers that were returned to their families blindfolded, shot and beheaded.

@mado1o opssss, in Turkey we know this different..israel didnt lose sinai..they give it to egypt in 1982 for peace...9 years later than 1973 war...The result of the war is israel crossed the canal and while they were fucking egyptian 3rd army in the ass, soviet forced for cease fire...Thats a fact...

This video is very biased. I think you need to face the facts that every time Egypt attacks Israel and begins loosing its "CEASEFIRE!" just think, if that ceasefire didn't happen things would be VERY different for Egypt.

@midotherun Your commandos did not influence the war in anyway. They delayed a bit and at times fought very well, but they were simply a nuisance. Their cute little Sinai operations did not influence the outcome of the war in any way. Their only success was at Ismailia, and even there they needed Algerian support.

@midotherun By the time US support came, Israel was already winning. And let's not forget - there was only one major US resupply airlift during the entire war. Egypt and Syria got multiple Soviet airlifts and sealifts throughout the war, and would not even have been able to start the war without Soviet weapons. Israel, by contrast, was almost completely alone, and still won anyway.
