In honor of my Scots heritage, here is a Tribute to Tartan Day (April 10th) and the 261st anniversary of the Battle of Culloden (April 16, 1746). The pictures are from the Isle of Skye, including the Fairy Glen, Fairy Pool, and Fairy Bridge on Skye. Also featured are pics of Culloden Battlefield and the Isle of Staffa.
The music is "The Skye Boat Song", performed by John McDermott. I hope you like it.

  • Absolutely amazing! The song, the pictures, all of it. You have done Scots (by birth or by blood) the world over a favor. My next trip will surely include a trip to Skye!

  • I'm Scottish and living in Scotland born and bred here and this was a truly beautiful tribute to a wonderful Island great job John McDermott sung it beautifully. Thank You :)

  • @melbournepeter2007 I too named my daughter Skye, after the song. Only later did I realize what an amazing place the Isle of Skye is. I took her to Scotland for her Master's Degree grad gift - we had dinner on Skye on her 27th birthday. Loved it so much we went back the next year. Hoping to return - would love to live there.

  • You're so lucky to be a Scot! The rest of the world (except for China, America, and Singapore) isn't quite as fascinating and cool.

  • One day, when I'm finally standing on Skye alongside my beautiful daughter SKYE, Highland Lass, I'll let you know. With pic!! Thanks for the delightful posting. Peter, in Australia, and Skye, in California, planning!!

  • I would love to go there someday... i'm a native american my mothers side of the family name comes from scotland. ( skye) and i'm told we have lots of family there

  • Thanks for posting this. I was in Skye a few months ago :-) Actually there's great scenery just outside Glasgow near Loch Lomond and the Trossachs

  • Well, that certainly brought a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye. Thank you for this beautiful and sensitive piece of work.

  • bellissima terra!!!!

  • Well it's a bit soppy the song, but given how beautiful the land and sea of Skye are, in these wonderful pics, I guess it all folds together well. What about some piping of James Budge or other Traditional Skye composers?

Thanks for posting this, and the Culloden connection.

  • I'm scottish and living in america

I'm from the family of the Custers

    My name is Skye Custer
