This video is about an idea I had of how to create a lid for the GSI cup. Sorry about using the table top again, but I'm not heading out to the woods again until another two weeks at the "Practice What You Preach" wilderness survivalist gathering in April, 2010.

  • FYI, the lid of the Primus LiTech kettle fits perfectly on the cup. It's made of hard anodized aluminium.

The kettle itself is nice and useful, too, not to mention very light (lighter than the cup ...)

  • @aseglkj I see a few different models with varying sizes. Which model works?

  • the one thing i see as a possible problem is rust on the screw if it is not stainless than it will cause the metal to oxidise witch can if you have not got a tetnus shoot kill you,..! if not treated. lock jaw and all kind of problems from rust introduced in a person's system can reak havack in the human body... stainless steel screw's only.. the top has galvanized coating i think but when you drill a hole and mix the two metals the same thing will happen electroolist.. for long term use anyway.?

  • @drivin69 Well, actually the lid rusts over time too. I've been looking at coating everything in the same paint used on bbq grills, but I'm still looking into if that's even a good idea or not.

  • @SafariOutfitter oh yeah, sorry, the coffee/tea kettle. I have the .9l but it looks like the 1.5l has the same lid.

  • @drivin69 are you out of your mind? rust doesn't cause tetanus, tetanus is caused by a bacterium called clostridium tetani, which lives in the soil.

rust is completely harmless. it's just oxidized iron. it doesn't look nice, but you could eat it by the pound and it wouldn't hurt you. it actually gives you essential iron that your body needs to create new blood cells.

  • Great mod Brother!
