I am testing out the Seymour Duncan P-rails on my Epiphone Les Paul with Floyd Rose going through the Bridge and Neck Pickup. Pardon the playing, it was late.

  • I have the same guitar--Epiphone Les Paul Studio. I just read about these pickups and am thinking of getting them too. Do you think they're good? Are they much better than the stock pickups?

  • Hey Angus. They are quite good in the sense, you can have 3 pickups (humbucker, p-90, rail [single coil]) in one package but you'll need to invest in either switches, push-pull pots or the newer Seymour Duncan Triple Shots. They are definitely better than the stock pickups. My stock pickups sounded muddier with less clarity than the P-rails.

  • Great video, its pretty cool when you can changed pickups anytime you like when you do it yourself

  • Yeah, it's cool when it works out. But you'll need lots of patience cos it's not as straightforward as in the instructions.

  • @BlackAngusYoung i got them on my epi lp

there great, much much better than the stock pickups

  • thanks erikfrusciante for the tip.

  • the second E you play in the verse should be a C#m

  • I have a solidbody neck-thru with JB bridge / SH-2 neck and I have to agree they are very clear musical pickups like the prs dragon II. you have to get your signature sound from the pedal or the amp. the pickups are clean. I wouldn't mind going to the Prails for more switching options. solid body's need all the help they can get to sound like the semi hollow les paul.

  • Yes, it doesn't have the heaviness of a humbucker but not as thin as the rail. It's quite good for blues, hawaiian and country. The beauty of the P-rails is that you have all these tones to play with.

  • It may not be the same chords but it sounds almost the same.
