Jazzy/Bluesy demo of my 2001 G&L Legacy with Kinman Hank Marvin Signature Pickups. Rewired with CTS 250k pots, 5-way CRL switch, Sprague Orange Drop .022 tone cap and stock Kinman treble bleed kit. Played through a Fender Cyber Twin.

  • @bonfiresnsandcastles --thanks a lot! I'm hoping to post some more structured videos soon. I've since purchased handmade pickups from Slider's vintage classics and a Mesa blue Angel. The tone is close to Carl Verheyen's.

  • I don't have a video to post but I can tell you this: the kinman Hank marvins are hotter and so they're warmer and break up quite easily. The G&L stock pups seemed a little brittle when distorted but the kinmans were super smooth. To my ear the kinmans didn't have the tonal complexity that the stock pups had. The stock ones had more of the chimey stratty tone than the kinmans but they weren't nearly as punchy and didn't have as much spank or grit.

  • Thanks. It's good to know someone watched this and liked it enough to post a comment.

  • Hey fbender722:

Do you like these better than the stock G&L's? If so how much better? Worth the money? Are they really that quiet, and do you notice any tonal loss?

    Thx.

  • great playing sir.

  • can you compare your kinman pickups to the G&L stock pu?

  • good playing,
