Around 1877 Reynaud improved on the zoetrope by adding mirrors in the centre so the animation could be clearly seen without peeping through small slits. For this "Praxinoscope" he published 3 series of 10 very cute animations per serie. This video contains 9 of them:
№ 7 - La Danse sur la Corde (The Tight-rope Dance)
№ 9 - Le Jeu de Corde (Skipping Rope)
№ 10 - Zimm. Boum. Boum! (Dzing. Boom. Boom!)
№ 12 - Le Jeu du Volant (Badminton)
№ 16 - Les Papillons (The Butterflies)
№ 17 - Le Trapèze (The Trapeze)
№ 21 - La Charmeuse (The Charmer)
№ 21 - La Balançoire (The See-saw)
№ 25 - Le Fumeur (The Smoker)
Reynaud would keep on improving the ways animations could be seen. He pioneered the cinema experience with projected animation shows in a Paris theatre since 1892 and developed 3d film viewers in the early 20th century.
If someone could provide more high quality material of Reynaud's works it would be greatly appreciated (still images as well as videos are very welcome).
