Since i don't see too, too many HG20 quality tests, i decided to do another.
Here I' put together a quick little montage of different shot types to show off the Canon Vixia Hg20's quality capabilities in just average situations.

The settings were.

Spotlight Mode
12mbs
30fps

Pretty basic, I filmed in overall good lighting, and i edited it with Sony Vegas 8.0

To my subscribers:

I haven't posted a video in awhile!
Please be patient, I have some new stuff in the works :)

  • what format file format you get after rendering in sony vegas? and how huge was file after rendering

  • @Patryk737 sorryf or the late reply. Around 60 mbs, for this clip. I always render the file to .wmv

  • @Wickiam Well, I found professional way to render a video:D

Uncompressed avi or MPEG 2 and x264 codec (.mp4). Even TV and film productions are using this method.

  • @Patryk737 Hows the file size there? Isn't uncompressed far too large? At least in my experience, I sacrificed a bit of quality to save space and upload time. Mind you I haven't edited any real footage for almost a year now.

  • @Wickiam size of uncompressed avi is huge. That is why we are using x264 codec to compress it 10 or even more times, saving the same quality. There is not better codec;D

/watch?v=R8u5XAzknO8 16 minutes of movie in full HD using x264 codec= 500- 700 mb, that is awesome, dont you think?

  • @Patryk737 Holy shit, that is great. So do you render out in AVI first, then re-render it out in x264?

  • Can you please please please tell me your settings for 0:09 ? please :D

  • @Wickiam Yes.

You can also compress mpeg 2 to .mp4 x264. Takes less time to compress but quality is a little bit worst (The pac man new generation movie is comrpressed MPEG-2).

  • Hey, did you use majic bullet for the Flare and shutter? and would you recomend this camera?

  • Thanks a lot man! I really needed the stand up test.
