HOUSTON - In this video released by the tank ship Krymsk response unified command, a DC3 aircraft deploys dispersant to an oil sheen 40 miles off of Galveston Oct. 21, 2009, after an estimated 18,000 gallons of fuel oil were spilled from the Krymsk Oct. 20, 2009. The unified command decided to deploy dispersant after determining that on-water oil recovery methods would not work due to weather conditions. Dispersants are products that are applied to the water surface in order to break up surface oil slicks, a process called dispersion, and facilitate the movement of oil particles into the water column. • @chs444 Yes i wish everybody would but the intelligence of some people won't let them.

  • This is a Crime folks, a slow kill. It is being carried out right in front of us, where is our courage??

  • @chs444 go ahead belive what you are told. why dont you look and see how many workers from the valdez spill are still alive.

  • The dispersant Corexit EC9527A in the Materials Data Safety Guide says it all. Some countries dont allow its useage including Europe. Lets not candy coat the problem for safety sake, for people sake, for GODS SAKE !!!!

  • DC3, really?

  • @isaacnd200 SORRY, TIORCO

  • Corexit ? That's nothing....go see the websites for yourselves who NALCO and TIARCO really are and what they make and do in the Gulf and you will get very angry. Check em out for yourselves and then tell everybody you know.

  • The dispersant turns it into smaller pieces (Balls as you call it) and it does not sink to the bottom, it floats in the upper region of the water and allows microbs to eat/digest the oil creating natural by-products. I recommend viewing the video on how oil dispersants work

  • you retards, this is a short term gain long term lose, iam a commercial fisherman in the gulf and all this is going to do is force the oil into oil balls and sink to the bottom, where all the reefs are, causing major damage to the ecosystem, snappers, groupers and all reef fish are in jeopardy when this stuff sinks to the bottom whos bright idea was this, it could take decades for this to disperse, but first it will start washing up on the beaches in oil balls

  • WOW! I love seeing a 60+ year-old plane still viable, working to this day. Whether dropping Screaming Eagles in harms way or dispersants to save our coast. It just goes to show, the right tool for the right job
