Lance missile firing Hebrides

Footage of last ever British army firing camp in the outer Hebrides, fire mission from self propelled launcher. Black smoke emitting sideways from missile is the solid propellant gas generator first ignited to pressurise the two liquid propellants and force them into the rocket motor where they react and create thrust, also to help initiate spin along with the offset of the fins.

The sad thing about serving in NATO back then is we never got any real recognition, I mean whats a lance missle do anyway, I wish I could have that trck unit to play around in the No. Woods though!

Woner what happened to Sgt.Ross, Alverez and Langston the former were very sharp and schooled, Ol-man Ross well He was an cool ol Vietnam Vet, we had a mix of both worlds, hated the Military when it started changing, getting more college types, the Boozing and fighting days were coming to a close, farries, n ladies were starting to become the new norm, why could'nt they stay Wacks? miss the Big red One, my first taste of Infantry, it sucked, no more fun n games with the young college grads.

I was at the 1/7th FA Det in Montabouer, i remeber one year they had us go to a southern unit and do there guard duties, most of that whole unit was busted by CID assholes, Hell we smoked hash, but I guess not like those clowns! anyone recall that fat Chief Warrant officer that chumped Cigars and when he'd come to unit ask about every nut n bolt on the Lance system, and ya better know or every swinging dick had ta go out to the field for a week no questions asked!

Yeh we used to tell all the nig's (new intake gunner's) red arses, that they would be on fin party, and that they would have to row out to the impact area to retrieve the fins!!! gullible twat's
