Hip-Hop Upright Bass Slap: Just Lose it.

Me playing an improvised bass line to the Eminem Song "Just Lose it." I used a 52' Kay S-9.
was fun and thought id video tape it...
Both pluck and slap lines; tested sound wise very well, the mic is great for anyone wanting a good condenser.

Nice job to Samson for making good usb mics. Ive already got 2 of the podcast mics, and they work just as well for their purposes.
This was my first test with the USB Condenser, so no pre-amps, just straight into the computer through basic windows movie maker recording channel; no programs used at all outside the recorder.
no mixing of any type.
It did real well at the 2:33:05 mark;
when i started slapping the bass, I didnt need to re-level(sound was set to -24db pickup for mic to start) the sound at all, thats unmodified bass slapping, at it's rawest...and thats what im always looking for, so PROPS SAMSON!

I love this song as well(who don't), its boom chickky and slapapickathumpy good too. :)

The Mic did pick up my bass scratching the floor a little to well at the beginning,ha ha ha...

in this video you need to raise the end pin your bass is to low

its all on how you play, i dont like a bass way high up, get a better pull on the strings the way I have set it up. Its not for everyone, but works especially for me. You'd also probably hate my action too, which is 3/4 to 1in. off the fingerboard.

JT - question about the LaBella Sueprnils - what's the break-in period for 'em usually? Been thinking of getting a set for my ol' Kay but nylons have given me trouble before. Neverr tried the laBellas though. I miss the old Golden Spirals but I can't get a mortgage for a set :)
