I was down for the count. My life had taken me out
Lost everything I'd ever cared about
I was punch drunk but i kept on drinking, cause anything was better than thinking
bout the look in her eye when she walked away

i couldn't do nothing but watch TV, reruns all ran over me
rocky 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
he'd take the hits but keep on moving, even when he knew he's losing
I heard his words echo in my head

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a mean and nasty place
and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees
You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.
But it ain't how hard ya hit. It's how hard you can get hit

When rocky fought the Russian guy, and everyone thought he would die
he never second guessed himself at all
for every punch that rocky threw, the Russian always sent back two
but in the end he beat him with his heart

so don't go throwing in the towel, you've always got another round
there's always somewhere deeper you can dig
one day you will climb those stairs, and throw your hands up in the air
and feel like you were always champion
