@mlafrt I used to room with a philosophy student who did a lot of reading about how war used to be waged. Some cultures, like the ancient Greeks, decided conflicts through very organized battles. People still died, and we think "how silly to die that way!", but in many respects she felt it was more civilized. In that kind of warfare, civilians were rarely killed. Now, the POINT of warfare is to kill civilians. I think some from the past might be shocked to learn there AREN'T rules to war
