i have seen this at least 20 times-this is the ulimate in japanese sneeky heel, mr moto--there was no good guy wrestlers for japan in the usa-in those days--left over from a legacy of the war-very funny stuff-wish there were more wrestling from mr moto than a couple of matches here on yt..thanks for posting..
when i was a youngster in southern ca in the 1950s, mr moto was a fearsome heel. i was 15, when i saw him take out rookie cowboy tex mckenzie with a sleeper in both the second and third falls. mckenzie was announced as being 6'9". regardless, moto was much, much shorter. i've never forgotten that match. dick lane, the gordon solie of the west coast, did the commentary with the pathos and the bathos, which only he could provide..
Moto had a great act, especially right after WW2, but take away the chops, the salt in the eyes and his so called sleeper hold and there is very little wrestling skill left.
Still his clips are fascinating to watch, however the era is critical to this character.
Imagine if he were a good guy wrestling in 1948 at the "Hollywood Legion Stadium" just a couple of years after feared Japanese attacks caused black outs and air raid sirens.
