THIS IS PART OF A VHS TAPE GIVEN TO ME A WEEK AFTER THE LAST BINBROOK AIRSHOW IN 1987 BY A YOUNG MAN WHO I MET ON THE BASE FILMING THE SHOW , HE NEVER GAVE ME HIS NAME, JUST ASKED FOR MY DETAILS AND CARRIED ON FILMING,
"THE SHOW IS NOW A PIECE OF AVIATION HISTORY".
IT HAS BEEN A PART OF MY BINBROOK COLLECTION FOR MANY YEARS, AND STORED IN A CABINET, BUT WHY LEAVE IT IN A DARK PLACE
" LET IT RELIVE ITS HERITAGE BACK ON THE SCREEN"
- - - PLEASE NOTE - - - IF THE OWNER OF THE VHS TAPE POSTED TO ME ALL THOSE YEARS AGO WISHES FOR THIS FOOTAGE TO BE REMOVED OR IS UNDER COPYRIGHT PLEASE GET IN TOUCH AND I WILL REMOVE IT I DO NOT WISH TO OFFEND ANYONE BY POSTING IT" IT`S JUST A SHAME TO LOCK IT BACK IN A DARK PLACE AGAIN.
"ENJOY THE LAST LIGHTNING DIAMOND NINE". THIS COMES UNDER THE COPYRIGHT OF JETNOISEFOREVER .

  • I'm 16 and I wish I could see a Lightning fly. They are awesome aircraft which aren't comparable with any modern aircraft today.

    Gotta love the noise.

  • I remember being at RAF Coltishall in the early 60's, hunters , lightenings and javelins all ready to scramble, how i wish I had todays camera's , not that they would have allowed us to film.

  • @jetnoiseforever Wonderful- thanks for sharing.

  • Diamond nine looks wonderful. Wish I could see one fly again.

I was there that day and what a fantastic day it was even though it rained for most of it.

The (13?) ship scramble at the start of the Lightnings display was awesome.

  • What a classic aircraft...they dont make em like they used too.

  • god i'd love to be in the raf, those pilots are so skilled and thankyou for sharing this footage with the world.

  • Fabulous piece of film, thanks for posting..

  • Thanks. I was there. I still have the t-shirt

  • You obviously aint seen a One in One take off . The Pilots were banned from same after a couple of flame-outs!
