Yes, you can, but it is traditional to steam it in a rice basket, this is what they did in Asia, where they did not have technology as rice cookers.

This is great guys. If you'd like a little flavour, you guys can add about 1/2 coconut milk and a pandan leaf while cooking the glutenous rice. Goes perfect with Vietnamese-style roast chicken.
