January 2009 marked the inaugural Jue Festival, a 10-day sunny spot in the midst of the grey China winter. Working with friends at local galleries and record labels, as well as in the international music community, Beijing- and Shanghai-based promoters Split Works knitted together a diverse mix of visual arts exhibitions and live shows happening at venues across the two cities.
From drama performances to dancehall DJs and punk shows, Jue 2009 brought the Beijing and Shanghai communities together in appreciation of the best of the blossoming arts scenes in these two cities. Check out some highlights in the video, and stay tuned for Jue 2010!
