I wanted a leaf blower for years and finally had to buy my own for my b-day. My hubby thought it wasn't personal enough. I think it depends how long u have been together. I have all the jewelry I need.

@oculist2020 There are several pressing issues facing women in North American society – equal pay for equal work, freedom from sexual harassment and abuse (although there are men who are also harassed and abused albeit not to the extent that women are). My point is, none of the serious issues are addressed by getting bent out of shape over a TV COMMERCIAL.

For years my wife bugged me for a blender for our anniversary, but I thought it was too impersonal. Instead I got her things like jewelery, a camera, etc. Never spent less than $500 on a gift for her. One year I relented and bought her a blender. I guess she got what she really wanted, because from then on she had an excuse to badmouth me to all her friends. I'm so glad I eventually divorced her.

The very first birthday gift I received from my husband was a Leatherman, and we had been dating for a whole 2 months at the time. To date, it has been one of the most-used and most appreciated gifts I've ever gotten. :) And because he has been so up-front with me about how fragile a guy's ego really is, especially when it comes to things he does for his woman, this commercial makes me cringe. A lot. Diamonds shouldn't be a girl's best friend, her husband should.
