Love Townsend, but as a player, he'd need a whole different road map to get around in Vai's world. This was really apparent when I saw the Sex and Religion tour in Vancouver. At one point, Vai literally stood next to Devin and traded licks...using only his fretboard hand. Don't get me wrong, Townsend is a madman, but Vai's a monster.
After this video, Devin hunted down and tried to kill Patrick Stewart, screaming, "I am Shinzon of Remus!!!".

not too mention devins first two albums are solo..meaning hes the whole band. dont see any vai's still.

Devin walked a long road from here. . And yes, at this point, Devin could easily run circles around this crap. Devin is a musical genius, if you dont think he could, go look up "wrongside" by Strapping Young Lad. I dont see Vai, or hear him.

Stop all of the Steve Vai hate... Their both are Zappa Ripoffs hes got Zappas old drummer and bassist.
Devy's entire sense of humor is Zappaesque, no need to rip on his roots.
