I think you're exactly right. A lot of the early scenes definitely suggest Blair took notice of Dan in a way that wasn't just, "My bestfriend's boyfriend." I really think the show would have been better off if Chair hadn't taken off and Chuck was fashioned into the main male character of GG. He was much better served as a skevy secondary character.
