I'm not an animator. My background is in illustration, but my major is actually interactive design ("web stuff").
I took a Drawing In Motion class as an elective to push myself to do something difficult.
The technique used here is drawing 500+ images by hand (on a light table) then using a programs like On Location, FlipBook, et cetera, to take images of each page and load them on the computer where A MIRACLE OCCURS and a short movie of dubious quality is created.
It is magic.
Hope you enjoy my feeble efforts. This one is my second project, based on a brief clip of a Beatles film (A Hard Day's Night). Materials used: B&W photos laid under translucent (onion-skin) paper and grey-scale calligraphy brush markers. I draw quickly, but it still took about 20 hours to do.
There are two more animations in this series. (I blame my carpal tunnel symptoms on this class.)
P.S. I now have even more respect for the skill and OCD compulsions of old school animators.

I started as soon as I could hold a crayon, but started getting awards and recognition when I was ten years old, got published when I was 11 or 12 locally, and got published internationally when I was 16. I have BAs in English and Art, but decided to focus on computer-related interactive design for my grad degree, because it would be a challenge (as opposed to re-learning Illustration techniques). These animation projects were for a class that lasted ten weeks, and I did it as an experiment.
