Also, if your bowl drains slowly the petcock drain may be plugging. Just screw the filter cap back on and turn the ignition on while the drain valve is open. That'll blow all that shit outta there.

@goldenboygq9 You turn the key over till the fuel pump activates, turn it off then back on about 3 times, it's self priming.

Was the water separator screen something specific to the Super Duty trucks? I have an older body style '97 Powerstroke and my filters (even the ones that come with the cap) do not include this.

I bought the one without the cap and it was $17 each. It was a sale where you have to buy a minimum of three for that price.
