  • Great smooth tone with the right amount of bite. Are these the Alnicko 2 or 5 pickups?

  • In this video they were actually Alnico 4's (I played around with the magnets a lot and settled on 4's)

  • great stuff. keep it up. i am partial however to the tone of your peavey amp over the new one.

  • They are two different animals, there are things I like and don't like about each.

The peavey is GREAT at low volume crunch with the dirty channel. I was playing it the other day and I forgot how good it was, I plugged up the BYOC delay into the effects loop with some reverb and it was AMAZING. I might do a clip of that.

However the bluesbreaker smokes it at high volumes. Of course it doesn't have an effects loop or master volume which some might see as a negative.

  • I think next amp build will be a Metro 50 watter with master volume and effects loop. I think that would work better for me really. I have on and off days with the JTM45.

At the moment I am focusing on my Warmoth Tele build so stay tuned for that.

  • Cool tone your getting there! What I really like about Creams sound is that top end breakup/fuzztone on Eric Claptons guitar. I don't know if it was a pedal, or just driving the amps hard, that got that FAT buzz he was getting. It is great watching you developing great tones of your own. Thanks

  • I know that tone you are talking about and I have no idea how he does it. Its not that woman tone of rolling back the neck tone, its sharper than that and buzzy as you say.

Then again he did use different amps in cream etc.

  • Keep it up Marty!

I just watched several of your vids and you've got it going on very well..

  • @iguisard Peter Green's masterclasses are unsurpassed.

  • There are maybe two solutions ? Listen to it some more times up to get it well in mind and it will be easier to find the way playing guitar or try the cocaine : she don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie. ;-) . First go by ear... and go on by ear !

  • Keep it up. You captured the essence. It's a great song. So great in fact that I have said for years that it is the greatest and most comprehensive rock jam in R&R history (the 20 min. version). Clapton never was greater than he was then. That song is a master class on improvisation and cohesiveness.

  • 4 hours Black magic woman done by Fleetwood Mac in NY. :)

  • Hey man, sorry to rain on your parade but almost no one good uses tabs, we all go by ear, its so much faster, But I'll be happy to point you in the right direction. The two chords are E major and G major, that covers basically all of the rhythm, the solos are based on the E minor pentatonic scale I believe, or, the first inversion starting in open position and on the 12th fret.

  • Yep, haunting solo

  • Sleepy Time Time off of Live Cream, gets me everytime!!! To me that's Eric's most balls out solo!!!

  • IMHO,the "Fresh Cream"LP version has the perfect solo, one of the best solos of all time, (for me better than live).

It's just perfect:every note, sound feeling, how he developes it, not too lengthy, leaves you wanting you to hear it again and again... with a pinnacle moment, like "Sweet wine" solo. My twoo Cream's favourite solos (along with maybe the one on"Dance the night away").

They have no more and no less than the perfect notes.Which, from a modern p.o.view,is hard to find in that era's music

  • ah, I love it!

way to commit by keeping the long hair

looks good ;) and the music sounds good
