Even with my laptop, I find myself wanting to use this desktop more and more. Running Ubuntu with XP under VirtualBox running on one of my other 'desktops' (under Compiz) really allows for a lot of versitility. VirtualBox allows for a 'seamless' mode, where it attempts to make the windows apps appear as if they are running under the Linux windowing environment... There are some visual bugs when using it with Compiz, but not enough to make me stop using any of it together :)
With this quad (Q6600) system with dual 8500GT SLI cards, there really seems no noticable performance drop while using this setup... Obviously, running windows under Ubuntu consumes extra system resources, but lets face it: nothing I am doing it even toughing the 4 cores :)
Sounds pretty sketchy, from what I can find on Google. Vaporware. Do you have tangible reference for it - that would be a heck of a distro.

No. Actually neither of us are using Winbuntu technically correctly.
I knew this and was actually using 'Winbuntu' as a play on words (Windows and Ubuntu.)
What you are talking about is not called Winbuntu. As far as I know, it has not been successfully pulled off either.
Technically, Winbuntu was actully the name being tossed around in 2007 for the Windows based Linux installer - what later became known as Wubi.
